TESTIMONIES FROM SOME OF THE NBI ALUMNI
NBI Alumni are spread across the world and are actively involved in different services adding value within communities and greater part in the Kingdom of God. We are constantly in touch with many of the former students of NBI programme. NBI also boasts of its Staff who are continuing to do excellent service to their communities. The NBI Staff are a reckoned work force because they also went through the NBI programme. NBI has many of its former graduates within the government services including the uniformed forces. It has equipped many leaders who are founders and leaders of many churches and denominations. Recently, NBI made follow-up on one of the former students who was also a beneficiary of the CAVA/NBI scholarship programme and we discovered that the investment NBI made upon many of our students was not in vain. The Kingdom of God has greatly gained.
Alice Gunda NBI Alumni
Coming from the rural areas of Rusape, a 27-year-old Alice Gunda serves within her community with zeal and has done administration work both for the church and for Sacred Heart Bible School under Apostle E. Kasongo. After completing the NBI programme, Alice said she struggled to really discover where her call lies and she knew in her heart that she is a singer, and though pastor thought her call is not much to do with being a church pastor but felt that there is yet another thing she feels is her call. Upon asking questions she also reveals that she is also an author and has written a book which she is looking for guidance and help to print and publish it. So, she is a singer, an author, a pastor, an administrator as well as a business person who runs a small enterprise with her rural community in Rusape. Not only that, she highlighted that apart from doing all this, she is compelled by compassion and her heart is into the ministry of helps. She is a humanitarian because she believes in adding value to human life and seeks to assist others to reduce suffering.
Alice Gunda, though wheel-chair bound, does not want people to feel pity for her and instead, helps others from the work of her hands. So, through NBI programme she discovered who she is and what God called her to do because many people are suffering and they need healing from all their troubles. Alice Gunda is the Founder and Director of Healing Hearts Foundation which seeks to give people their real value in life. She says that because of how she has been treated and suffered segregation as a result of her physical disability condition, God prepared her to be the right person to know what people really go through and she is called to serve in that capacity. She works hard sparing some resources to help the needy. Before the end of 2024, Alice Gunda will be launching her Foundation, “Healing Hearts Foundation” where she will also be donating humpers and other goods to the underprivileged. One of her core values is compassion and genuine desire to help, care and to comfort others. That’s total loyalty to the course of humanity. When NBI empowers leaders, they will definitely make a difference in their communities as a result of spiritual growth.

Alice Gunda’s story is similar to that of Bishop Lazarus Bodheni not that Bishop Bodheni has a physical challenge, but the passion because he also has started an informal school for the underprivileged children in his home area in Chipinge and over 500 children of all ages to grade 7 age groups, came to be enrolled because their parents cannot pay fees in formal schools. He is working with the local leaders and authorities to regularize the school activities and find teachers or volunteer parents. There is need out there, God help us. Let us continue to pray for the Alumni and the NBI programme that through its Learning programme, God will continue raising people who will seek to make a difference in their communities.
